g hotel

since CNY i've been tellin poosy that i wanna visit this place. finally, i managed to visit the new & chic g hotel, which fronts Gurney Drive, when i visited a couple of my friends in Penang last weekend. this picture is taken in front of the hotel. apparently the hotel prefers to lower case the letter "g".its atrium lobby is of a modern boutique-style hangout for the hip, young and restless. from the entrance you can see right through 'til the end as it has an open concept. as u can see, it's very stylishly modern. this is the left side of the wall as i entered. i managed to snap this from upstairs. and there's this red, funny-shaped partition standing in the middle of the atrium
stylish, modern designer furniture. looks uncomfortable to sit on, but it's not

the bar lit up in blue.. a bench made out from a sea anemone-like steel?
and oooh, this is taken in one of the toilet cubicles. there's this vertical light trough. cool eh? and the staircase.. the recessed hand rail and steps lit with orangey lights... this picture shows almost the whole of the atrium lobby.. ooiyoh.. this place is lit up with so many different colours.. on all possible surface..!! here u can see a red coloured ceiling..

and a lit up beer rack?
i feel damn hyped up coz i personally like lightings of all sorts. and yes, this is one huge lampstand beside me. and the walls behind are washed with such sumptious lighting.
actually i didn't expect to be here. =p it so happened that we have our car parked nearby as we wanted to go have supper at the nearby hawker stalls. i find this place "different" coz there's this modern contemporary hotel, sitting in between of the sea, a shopping mall (gurney plaza) and a hawker stalls enclave. u know it's like how hartamas has all these new, pricey high rise and also some kampung area just a stone's throw away? heh. that's what i think la.

we wanted to go sumwhere for the long weekend coming up in may...and being in the east coast..not too many options cuz everything nice & warm & beachy is at least 10 hours flights away (like hawaii for eg.)

so best option was bahamas, but it is definitely one of those too touristy place that i dread, in fact nassau isnt even like bahamas anymore they say, its like america. it doesnt help that the bahamas is a tax haven for americans....who is in the bahamas? and where in the bahamas?

so when peter suggested cuba, i tot it was the best idea he has ever come up with...we even reserved air tickets to be picked up in toronto (we're going to be in toronto this week & u cant buy tickets to cuba from within america), bought LP Cuba, i came up with a one week itinerary and we all got very excited about seeing the country. but further investigation revealed that it is unwise to go.

i miss u guys.
