& a Merry Christmas..!!

having her close friends away for holidays this festive season
means more TV time for her
and more time for her to think back
on the things that she has achieved (or failed) in the past year
new friends made, old friends reconciled
ups & downs of everyday's little nuisances
many lessons learnt and treasured
giving, taking and sharing
and knowing who warms the heart when it's at its most fragile
as if the picture above isn't obvious enough
it's of her - the sad girl whose heart got broken
decembers
it's the time when the girl feels the most fragile
memories of a beloved sister lost
some flapping pretty butterflies conjured into life
but, almost in no time, these butterflies flapped away
from being a girl who was once loved
to being a girl with lost love
decembers
it's the time when I know my heart is at its most fragile
nevertheless I will still try to make the most of all that comes
and the least of all that goes
i'm going to run in dreams..
now, leave me alone..

Morning feliners. FINALLY,an entry from me. I'd first planned to post something interesting...like all the friends that I've met up with whenever I could...

I'm currently in Osaka. Just got here few hours ago.. the minute I found out that internet services in the room is free I was so excited. Thinking I could finally sit down peacefully in front of my new baby & type away...

Well,my sis Yvonne was online. I wanted to ask if she's got any plans for Xmas..but before I could do so,she said she's got a bad news for me...from Mum. I knew it... my only cat left (Fluffy) passed away. Apparently Mum couldn't reach me so she told Von to convey this sad news to me.

Hearing this news wasn't as bad as before.Last time when Tiger passed away,I was in London. My mum got Edwin to break the news to me.I was so devastated... I cried in the bus on the way to the airport...in my damn uniform & 3 inches thick make up. At that time when Tiger left, none of us were around. Mum assigned my uncle to take care of him. I heard Tiger was foaming and fidgeting before he became stiff. When asked if a proper burial was done for Tiger,I was shocked to know that they put him into a PLASTIC BAG and threw him into the dumpster!!! OMIGOD! I was angry! But there was nothing I could do.

So I asked, this time since Mum was around when it happened, was there a proper burial for Fluffy? To my horror, Von told me....that Grandmama told Mum,we cannot bury cats!!! Mum found Fluffy in the morning, stiff and all that...and she was late for work. SO,she wrapped her with a towel, put her into a PLASTIC BAG,and disposed it in the GARBAGE ROOM OF OUR APARTMENT!!!!!! I'm speechless... Von asked if I want to cry together with her. Maybe it's due to the fact that I have not slept at all since I left KL,it hasn't really hit me yet. But I told her I don't want to hear about it and she'd better stop talking about it before I get pissed off.

These are the only pictures that I have of them. The rest are in my PC. So since this is a feliners' blogspot, this is dedicated to my beloved Tiger & Fluffy. I will always remember all the joy you two have brought to us.Thank you.. Always in loving memory.... Rest In Peace my dear ones...

i've been doing just that..

I would like to venture to guess that Kitty will be updating us with an extensive load of posts and pictures when Christmas is over. She'll be seated (hopefully) comfortably in Sydney with the Waldens by then and ready to share with us her latest travel across Eastern Europe. So stay tuned for that.

I'm not sure if the other feliners will be traveling anywhere during Christmas, but I know I am. Kind of a last minute change of plans and I'll be spending my birthday/Christmas with the rest of my family in Perth! I'm not sure if its the best idea to be sweating and swatting off summer flies for Christmas. Well, this is what I remember about summer in Melbourne, so I'm assuming it'll be the same in Perth. So yea, with me going there....there definitely will be an update after this holiday, well actually.... there will be an update next year so to speak.

Sneak Preview

As I sat reading my emails today I realize that if I don't post something up on the blog now, chances are I probably won't until next year as I've got quite a schedule ahead of me - we're going to land in Sydney early next week and go home to an absolutely empty house. Besides fridge-hunting there are presents to buy and wrap, loungers to move, maybe even Christmas recipes to be 'perfected'.

So I feel obligated to post something, anything, to make up for the absense of entries before and the weeks to come. Here's a sneak preview of my recent travels in the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania and last but definitely not least, Latvia.

Prague's icon, the Charles Bridge. Prague's streets are choked with tourist, even in winter but who cares? The city will charm you through and through. I'll go as far as saying, "You want romance? Forget Paris, go to Prague!"

Strolling on Charles Bridge is best left until after nightfall. If you're going at it solo, my tip is to put on your Ipod and drown out everything else. I swear the dopamine rush is better than sex. I had to stop myself from going back and forth the entire night!

Older than old tombstones in Jewish cemetery in Josehov, Prague's Jewish district.

Krakow main square, early morning. When it comes to Poland, I've made up my mind that I love Krakow as much as I hate Warsaw. While Krakow is smallish and packed with beautiful buildings and streets dating back to medieval times, Warsaw boasts huge boulevards, ugly Soviet-era buildings and more cars than I can handle. Warsaw was grazed to the ground during the war.

Krakow's centrepiece, Wawel Castle and Cathedral on Wawel Hill.

Railroad at infamous Nazi death camp Oswiecim, or more well-known by its German name, Auschwitz.

Coating of fresh snow in a courtyard in Vilnius old-town. Vilnius, the super-hip capital of Lithuania provides ample opportunity for wandering around. It has plenty of nooks, corners and courtyards to lose yourself in.

Lock on bridge to Uzupis. Newlyweds symbolize their commitment to each other by attaching a lock to the railing of the bridge and throwing the key into the river.

Uzupis is where the cheeky streak of rebellion pervading Lithuania flourishes, it is Vilnius' bohemian heart - artists, dreamers, drunks and squatters declared a breakaway state and the Uzupis Republic was officially, in an official sense, born in 1998. The 'state' has its own president, anthem, flags and a constitution! Yes, a constitution which among other things, gives inhabitants the right to hot water, heating in winter and a tiled roof; the right to be unique, to love, to be happy (or unhappy) and to be a dog.

Footbridge, Trakai.

Centrepiece of Trakai, the picture-postcard Island Castle on Galve Lake.

Clouds just wanna have fun. Trakai.

Hill of Crosses. Siauliai, Lithuania.

Art-nouveau, Riga.

Peter frolicking on the beach. Liepaja, Latvia.

Christmas market in Doma laukums, Riga.

Sigulda, Latvia.

Ziemsvetkus (Merry Christmas in Latvian) everyone!

M.I.A

Hmm, this blog has been left neglected for quite a while now from all of us. Sorry people. Let me just give you a probable reason for the hiatus.

Kitty is currently backpacking across Eastern Europe hence her lack of participation. Last I spoke to her, she had successfully made it to Lithuania via Poland without much of a problem or any man-caused nuisance. I personally would be a little bit doubtful about backpacking in Eastern Europe, I'm guessing it is most likely to do with the movie Hostel. :)

Garf on the other hand has been busy at work, while on weekends she dedicates most of the time to her other half. I guess nothing new and exciting yet for her to blog about.

Aristo our new feline is still jet setting around places as she works in the air. Once she is settled with her own brand new lap top, I'm sure she'll catch up with us in no time.

As for myself... I'm so broke I don't have anything to say that is friendly to this blog.

:)
