Bogus Vets Pt.2

Thanks for the insight and sharing Kitty.

My mom had went on my behalf today to pick up her blood test results and some more of the pills I've been giving her, as it somehow seems to help stop her bleeding. You know what though? As she came by to drop off the meds, she too told me that we should try consulting another vet and I asked her why. As I am very well aware that she isn't as doubtful as I am.

She told me when she got the results, all the vet said was her livers aren't that healthy. She then asked for further explanation and to her surprise, the vet said "oh you mean you want me to explain?". Damn WTF man seriously. How useless can they be?

As much as I try not to stereotype them here, it's hard not to.
The first thing the vet said to me when he found out that she had cancer was "she has cancer, it's better for you to put her to sleep". I was then thrown off guard and what not, as I was in denial that animals could have cancer too. Being uneducated in terms of animal science, I thought that his suggestion was something we had to do. I immediately called up my mom then and luckily she spoke to me without letting her emotions cloud around what choices we were to make.

Can you imagine? Only then when my mom told me what questions to ask the vet did I come to know that there was chemo. This is all thanks to my mom's years of volunteer work in HOSPIS. She knew pretty much enough innies and outies of what's cancer all about. Thus having me ask sufficient questions.

Urgh. Why does it seem that the vets here merely took on the job because they couldn't pass off to treat Humans instead? I'm sorry if I sound harsh and mean, but they are not doing justice to themselves. C'mon man, if you're a vet, you're suppose to have Love & Compassion for animals. Whether or not the owners can afford whatever treatment available, it is YOUR duty to educate and inform them, is it not? It is YOUR duty to save lives of YOUR patients dammit.

Stupid Mofos.

Bogus Vets

Hi kitties. Firstly, I'd like to offer some advice to Poosy upon reading (and hearing from Garf) that your four-legged has cancer.

Yes, vets in Malaysia are bogus. I remember clearly how superbly bogus they are when my four-legged friend AJ was battling his liver problem. We were told that he was in an extremely bad condition and the disease was in its critical stage (I can't quite remember if we were told that he was going to die). They didn't offer any insights into the whole diagnosis. Not much explanation. No suggestions as to what you can do to ease his pain, lack of appetite, vomiting etc. No alternative treatment or medication. That is the main problem with doctors and vets alike in Malaysia. They don't seem to want to explain things such as possible causes, alternative treatment and particularly, side effects of prescription drugs etc. That irks the hell out of me.

So, my advice is to get online and do as much research as possible. Read everything you come across everywhere about the diagnosed illness (or, if you doubt the doctor's credibility try reading up symptoms and of course get another vet's opinion). I personally wouldn't claim that I know a really good or reliable vet but I quite like AJ's current vet in Damansara cause they don't give out medication easily. Most times, vets really over-do it (like the one in Old Klang Road) and I remember AJ grew weaker every day. Basically, they didn't help at all la. Sometimes they're just too weak and you're better off looking at holistic treatment. I guess it depends on your pet's condition.

I agree with you on the diet thing. I learnt so much about dog diet- what is nutritional and what isn't- most commercial dog food contains too much sodium and by-products (in AJ's case, the vet should have mentioned things like that- I later learnt from the internet that the high amount of sodium in dog food isn't helping at all). I came across the Liver Cleansing Diet which led to my decision to stop feeding him Eukanuba. I then started the routine of cooking his food besides making the decision to visit a new vet. With the new vet, we were told different things- that his liver readings were high but it wasn't as if he was gonna die on us- and with some knowledge on holistic/alternative medicine, I asked the vet's opinion and received some insightful feedbacks.

His condition improved tremendously and after about 2-3 months his liver readings were pretty much back to normal. I was quite flabbergasted and thrilled at the sametime cause Andrew's mom took AJ to that vet in Old Klang Road for almost one whole year and he never once got better. He was a bag of bones who was constantly throwing up after each meal.

So its worth doing your own extensive research. I also visited forums (they're usually very useful). Try puppy.com or something.. I can't really remember. If ur interested in visiting the vet in Damansara, ask Andrew for the contacts. There is another animal hospital on Tun Razak, Medivet, which is supposedly quite reliable and affordable I heard.

Good luck!

My thoughts on War

After downloading brushes like mad over the weekend, I've put it all to good use. Nyahaha.
Next step : Must Learn How To Draw In Vector
grrrr

err...

Sorry guys i just downloaded a whole bunch of new brushes for photoshop and i couldn't resist using them on these two photos. Feel free to do the same back to me. If it pisses you off that much, send me a hate mail and I'll consider removing it. Hehe.

I added on the lipsticks for Andrew & Sri because June's look on the photo seems to be smirking at something, so I thought why not let her really smirk at something.

hate me later, love me now

...

My dog's been diagnosed with cancer in the mouth.
How long does she have? I don't know and I'm not sure.
If she was fine and healthy, she's supposed to have another 4-6 years.
I wish we could afford to get second and third opinions, as whatever the vet told me somehow doesn't seem to fit in with my research done online.

Or is it just Malaysian vets that are ill informed?
I have no clue.
I don't even know what stage is she at for fucks sake.

Some sites suggest the solution of removing part of their jaw where the tumour/growth is, they then have surgical replacement jaws. This is definately not an option I want to even consider about. It would be too selfish of me, even if I could afford it. Put her in pain and discomfort for the rest of her life just so I want her around a little longer? No way jose.

There's also sites that recommends radiotherapy/chemotherapy for dogs. Yes, exactly like how humans would be treated. There's also holistic treatments, doggy cancer diets and what not. I'm so lost I don't know where to start.

The latest thought for me was to change her and put her on a strict doggy cancer diet. I've come across a few sites thus far, but some are only willing to share their sucess story only if you purchase either their e-book or their book. You know what? These people shouldn't even have pets! Motherfuckers! How greedy and selfish can a person be? Sheesh.

With all these being said, all I know is that I need a more proper and more specific diagnose. Anyone can recommend me a brilliant track record vet around KL? Or anywhere for that matter. In Malaysia of course.

They should start having animal insurances as well man. Damn shit. I don't know if I can afford much of whatever treatment possible. Argh.

Anyway to dog owners and future dog owners, let me share this information with you. According to Canine Cancer Resource Centre, Cancer is not only the leading cause of non-accidental death in dogs but nearly half of all dogs over age 10 die from cancer. So if you want your dog to die like a normal old aged dog, start watching his/her diet as well, as it does in one way or another effect. And to think that the vet told me that he's not seen such a case in two years. Funny how different the things he tells me and what I read online are.

I'm obviously sad and pissed.
Now I'm not so sure if ignorance really is bliss.
I wonder if my dog's in bliss not knowing the growth under her tongue that is causing her discomfort is actually cancer. I really do wonder.

Never short of girls, Andrew had a nice and decent, no frills birthday dinner @ where else but Laundry.

This time around, we didn't get him any cute-cute stuff as per his request. Anyway, to cut the long story short... here are the photos as promised/hoped for.

Enjoy

What do you know? In the end we hardly had any photos taken with the birthday boy himself. Haha.

Anyway Kitty, here's hoping you have a Super Duper Spankin' Good Time filling up your brand spankin' new apartment home.

Hope you like them photos, alot of photos were out of focus therefore I decided to go for the good ol' black & white theme. Ask me for originals people if you want them! You know my email. ;)

A Soulful Dream

I hear the voices of PERU calling me.

As I received the latest text from Kitty, I felt as though it was a last call or a last reminder for me. I think it is so far that only Kitty knows about my dream/wish to one day volunteer in PERU. Within this one week, I had sorta signs coming my way, as if telling me that I am really destined to go there.

The first sign that struck upon me was about three days ago.

After Garfette introduced me/us to IMVU, I have thus been hooked on using that program to chat with people from all over the world. Those of you who are already using it, should be very well aware of the CHAT NOW button which immediately connects you to someone from anywhere in the world.

In my case, I have to admit that I obviously look forward to chatting to boys over girls. No, it's not like I chat to hook up with them, but somehow it's just more interesting I guess. Anyway, back to the story.

One fine click on the CHAT NOW connected me to this girl from Canada, and strangely enough I had decided to WANT to talk to this particular GIRL. We got to chatting and exchange stories of ourselves, it got to a pretty cosy exchange of informations, hopes, dreams and aspirations. Next thing I know, she too has the same dream as I to volunteer in Peru.

The second sign was two days ago.

I was in my sister's bedroom and on my computer when my mom walked in with a newspaper* in hand. She had a page opened with the header I was a sex addict and life seemed hopeless. FYI, she didn't show me the page because I had that problem. HONEST!!! It was meant for someone else we knew.

She placed the newspaper* on the bed and left. I immediately picked it up to flip to the next page which read "God changing lives in Peru". The instant I saw the header, I was like WOW and tried hard to not make anything out of it.

newspaper* = Alpha News

The third sign happened this morning

I got a text from Kitty sharing how she had just had a nice conversation with an artist who probably shares similiar insights and beliefs as her. I kept scrolling down until i reached the sentence that read "He hitched hiked from PERU 37 years ago".

Just how freaky are all these coincidences?

To add on, yesterday I was chatting with a guy I just met over this event that I'm at at the moment. I don't know why but I again shared with him how I want to volunteer in PERU one day, but would need to have enough saved aside first before I do anything. He then told me something that I never would have thought of.

He shared with me that he had a friend who does volunteer work as well and has been in Ghana for the past four years. You know how he funded himself? He got sponsors!! And it was at that moment I was like, wow I never would've thought of that, but it really did give me the light bulb moment.

Now, the only thing is. What sorts of sponsors would I be able to look at?
This question is now officially open to the floor. Haha.
Please throw in suggestions girls...and possibly boys I guess.

So there Kitty, the signs were literally in my face.
I bet you know how I felt when your text came thru, probably just like how you stumble on the inked flowers on pavement. Brr.... *shivers*

Why Peru...?

Good enough a reason?
