Letter from Myanmar

Due to the lack of updates from any one of us (especially Tabby), I've decided to share bits and pieces of an email that Kitty had sent to us as she backpacks around indochina. Apologies to those who click back regularly for updates but have yet to have read/seen any...

...was schedule to
leave mandalay this morning but i spent the whole of yday and today
recuperating from food poisoning. guess my asian stomach not that
'geng' after all lah. it was so bad i had no energy to even crawl out
of bed yday. i was waking up every hour to go to the bathroom.
sorry for sharing to the general audience about your 'runs'

i really
recommend backpacking here alone- its safe- super safe actually, and
quite affordable loh..for a month. the acommodation u pay in USDs and
can find as cheap as 4-6USD shared bathroom, travels on train, bus &
ferry are not expensive at all and as for eating, its super affordable
(pay in local currency the Kyat, pronounced 'Chat'). and the
experience is truly original and out of this world. nothing like
touristy thailand or cambodia at all. u really feel like u've gone
back 30-40 years. some travelers do it with a budget of USD500 or
less, for about 4 weeks. very very possible.
not all have USD lah ok :p

my main diet from now on, at least for a few
days will consist of fruits like bananas and grapes (if i can find
them). its quite rough travel...the whole country has hardly any
proper roads...therefore everywhere is dusty and the dust cakes the
back of your throat most times... its super hot (43 degrees) in cities
like mandalay & bagan...the dust practically coats every inch of ur
hair the moment u step outside..
for those who dunno, Kit has big hair. haha

i feel so free- especially because u know that it is safe to walk the
street at night (the streets have no street lights) and when ppl stop
to talk to u, they are interested in meeting foreigners to practise
English or learn about the outside world rather than to harm u like
everywhere else. i go for beers and dinners with locals who speaks
1.perfect english 2. little english 3. no english at all.

So...that's all for now.
Sorry for the lack of updates, as I've been too busy with work (which works out to be a good thing)
Kit is away backpacking and won't be updating till probably when she is done.
Garf has moved/shifted to a new place. Maybe abit too tired from it to update.
Tabs... well...as for the ONE person who only posted ONE post thus far...err... no comment.
hehe

Kit I wait anxiously for your return...for the photos..!! hahah
