who?

Many times people have asked me, of all the places that I've visited, which would be my favourite. I'd always give the same answer. Capetown, South Africa. I remembered my first visit there, I was REALLY REALLY excited. I've heard so much about South Africa but could never imagine the place. The minute I got out of the airport,I could see the magnificent view of Table Mountain. I remember feeling very happy, excited & jakun. Anyway, I only have 3 days there so I had to plan my schedule carefully.

This is the Cape of Good Hope. Remember I mentioned that the Tip of Borneo reminds me of the view in Capetown? This is the place.

According to our guide, this is the meeting point of Atlantic and Indian oceans.

view from the top..

The next few pictures were taken in a place called Champs Bay. It's really really beautiful...& windy. One of those come-to-life-postcards..

This, by the way, is the view from my hotel room. Nice right? Waking up to Table Mountain every morning. =)

And these were taken from the top of Table Mountain. It was freezing cold...

Behind me is the 12 Apostles,in Maiden's Cove..I tried counting.. but I lost count halfway thru. Maybe u gals should try..
We were on the boat to the Seal Island and we went pass this... it's the Lion's Peak.

and this is the Seal Island. Look carefully and see how they piled up on each other..

Boulders Beach's Penguins Colony. There were supposed to be more penguins but it was mating season. They were all hiding. He was the only one brave enough to come out. The rest were feeling anti-social I suppose..

Next is the Safari Park. I went to Pilanesburg Park, Johannesburg once. The park was so huge, and it was winter. Our guide forgot to bring the binoculars,so we've only managed to see the animals from far. So this time around, I took the Safari Park tour package from the hotel in Capetown. It's definitely more expensive but at least I get to see more animals.

Lazy lions. They are fed once a week. It was the 6th day when I went there. Springboks. I've tried ordering it in every restaurants but they only serve it as appetiser. Would really love to try having it as a main.

Next to giraffe is another type of game. Can't remember the name though.

Feisty, dangerous, powerful looking bulls. They're so close...

This animal needs no introduction.

It was really difficult to take this picture. Everytime I try to take a picture of the rhinos, they'll show their bums. I waited really long to take this shot.

I wanted to show how close our jeep was. It was a great experience though. Very cold, bumpy & smelly ride.

This is waterfront. It's not safe to walk around the city (where our hotel is) especially if you're not local. So this is definitely a tourist spot, and also where we have our meals & do our shopping in Capetown. Very nice environment...

from left: Ostrich Burger (very tender, juicy & yummy), Grilled Prawns, Fish & Chips with Spinach & Pumpkin as sides. YUM!

Since I they didn't have Springbok on their Main's menu, I ordered 'Game of the Day'. It's Kudu meat. I saw one Kudu when I was in Pilanesburg Park. Very huge, very white... very stiff & dry meat too. But it looks good right? Hopefully next time I can finally have my springbok meat. =)

I wanted to post a couple videos. But it takes forever to upload it so I gave up. But I really want to share the video with u gals. So i'll try again tomorrow.

I was organizing all the pictures that I've taken eversince I've owned a digital camera. I'm very thankful to my company because if they didn't hire me 5 years ago, I wouldn't have had the chance to see so many places & most importantly...kept in touch with my friends. I came across these pictures & it brought back fond memories.
This is Pek Ee Siew. She was my classmate when we were in college. She was in Germany for a few years & I managed to meet up with her when I went to Frankfurt. She & another friend brought me to Rothernburg over the weekend. Once,I stayed over her place in Darmstadt. She made lunch. Caesar salad & Bacon sandwich on Sour Dough loaf! That's it!! It's not enough for me! So I told her I'm still hungry. But she said that's what they do there. They have small mains but they have a lot of cakes. So, we made pineapple & kiwi jam together, then had cakes for tea... & I remembered waiting eagerly for dinner. Hehehe,I had fun. She came back to Malaysia for few years, and now she's back in Germany again, probably for good. Can't wait to meet up with her again.

Natasha Fernandez. We were classmates in primary school. She was studying in K.L., and continued in New Zealand. So I'd meet up with her whenever I go to Auckland. Once she'd cooked dinner for us. So she brought me to her lovely home... I can't remember where though. Very proudly she presented her dish..."Ta daaaa!! I made salad for appetizer & Chicken cous cous for dinner!" Hahaha... Everyone knows how much I eat or at least need to eat before I'm full right? My first reaction was... "That's all for dinner?? It's so little!! Tash, I'm STARVING!I can finish this on my own. What are U gonna eat?" So insensitive of me. It just came out. Then she was like "but..but..Vera...I went to the market after work, came home & cooked..and..and...sniff". Man..she's such a baby. I apologised after that of course. After that, whenever we meet up, we eat out. Not because she doesn't want to cook for me anymore, (I'm sure),but because she's a doctor & have a very busy life. She left NZ to Australia. She's with Perth General Hospital now. Very busy woman. She refuses to take picture because she just came from the hospital. She didn't feel pretty. *rolls eyes*

Chang Yee Hwa. One of my favourite housemates. She was staying with Garf & I,together with 6 other girls in Kelana Puteri. I miss her. She's in Perth too. Before Tasha went to Perth,I'd meet up with Hwa everytime I'm there. She'd borrow a car from her friend & bring me to fancy places for dinner. These garlic mussels were Yummy! But I haven't seen her in a while now. She's a tax accountant.

Alfred Pang Man Chong. Also my classmate in college. We were in the same group for 2 yrs I think. He's from Hong Kong. But for some reason, he has relatives in K.L. I can't remember if it was his mum's or dad's family. Anyway, he's a darling. Needless to say, everytime I go to HK I'd demand him to bring me good food. I love the food there. But it's so expensive. Poor Alfred, everytime I'm there,he has to rush all his work or take leave...& spend a lot of money on me... not to shop of course... to eat! He's an editor in a production company.

Keith Krsna Nair. I knew him together with Garf when we were working for TGIF. That was in 2003! A very long time ago. He's an F&B manager. We've done quite a bit of crazy s**t before. Anyway,he was in Dubai for a few weeks, visiting his brother. So I managed to meet up with him when I was there. We went for Desert Safari together. Quite an experience. The off-road ride was awesome! But the driver was crazy...ALL the drivers are crazy..

Natasha Dayap. She's a close friend of my sister,Sharon. They were classmates in college. I remember hanging out with my sisters & her friends. They'd make a big scene in public... shout,yell,fight...u name it...just for fun. Crazy bunch of friends. She's in Dubai now, staying with her father.I went to her house,we ordered Japanese take-out,played with her 3 Persian cats....then Tasha & her dad brought me to Buddha Bar. How cool is that?

Jessica Yew Chia Yi. hehehe,hmm...where do I start... met her when we were 15. My dad & her mum were good friends. Went to the same college. Found out she was friends with Garf. Now we're friends! =) Met up with Kit twice in Amsterdam before Xmas.... & then....

2 weeks later,we met up again in Sydney......

together with Julian Oh!! How cool is that? It was a very brief meeting though. I remembered having a so-so-brunch, and we went to a few flea markets... & maybe a few sesat jalan episodes..

Adeline Thien Yen Ling. I've known her since primary school, went to college together, lived together, & now she's back in K.L.,my current next door neighbour. =) She was studing QS in Wolverhampton. I used to visit her in Wolverhampton whenever I'm in London. She'll wait for me at the train station,we'll walk to her house...& dinner would be waiting for us. So sweet ya?

April Tsen Tuang Young. Before Adeline & I shifted to the same condo as Garf, we were staying in this freaky-haunted-looking house with April. I used to party with April every weekend. Madness! She then joined Adeline in Wolverhampton,& of course..they were housemates. But April's in Graphic Design so she's always very busy. We managed to make a short trip to Birmingham together... it was fun. sigh...miss those days..

Ching Man Yee. She was my classmate in secondary school. We weren't really close even after school. We do meet up quite often but we were 'tight' lah..until I started hanging out with her in London. She's also a Quantity Surveyor. She's doing quite well there. She works in London itself so it's easier for me to meet up with her as compared to the rest. She was the only one left in UK for me to hang out with...until....

Amanda Goh Sue Ling decided to go to UK to work. She's very happy working as an au pair. I think she's seeing a French guy. I'm so jealous! I want her job too. Those of u who don't know, Amanda was my classmate in college, together with Ee Siew,Alfred & Adeline. We started getting really close after she finished her studies in Perth. She's my walking dictionary.

I love my job, can't wait to start work again... At this point of my life... I can safely say I'm very contented. =)

..this is one of the things that i would've done..

full of crap?

received a forwarded mail.. thought i'd share.. it reads as follows:-

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine, and those who don't.

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there isfreedom, in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists havedemonstrated that, if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the endof the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichiacoli, (E. Coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we areconsuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (ortequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to gothrough a purification process of boiling, filtering and/orfermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drinkwater and be full of shit.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service.
